Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Zonta Club of Bangor was chartered in 1930 and has maintained a strong commitment of public service to the local communities in our area; by offering scholarships to local women attending colleges and universities in the State of Maine, summer camper ships, and a hands on commitment throughout the Bangor area offering support and assistance to individuals and other organizations who may require a helping hand in times of need.
How do we accomplish this? We currently hold a number of fundraisers during the year, and all of our members spend many hours donating their time and energy to projects such as
- Working with the homeless shelter
- Walk for breast cancer awareness
- Providing Christmas for many local families
- Providing Thanksgiving meals for 26 local families
- 7 one thousand scholarships
- Domestic violence awareness
- $25,000 towards a room at Eastern Maine children’s ward
- $25,000 donated to Children’s museum
