Celebrating 77 Years of Service to Bangor and the Surrounding Communities

Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. The Zonta Club of Bangor was chartered in 1930 and has maintained a strong commitment of public service to the local communities in our area; by offering scholarships to local women attending colleges and universities in the State of Maine, summer camper ships, and a hands on commitment throughout the Bangor area offering support and assistance to individuals and other organizations who may require a helping hand in times of need.

How do we accomplish this?  We currently hold a number of fundraisers during the year, and all of our members spend many hours donating their time and energy to projects such as:

  • Refurbishing a women's room at our local shelter,

  • Painting and decorating a room at the county court house for families who are victims of domestic violence and awaiting a trial who may need a comfortable environment away from court room,

  • Community walks supporting breast cancer and other cancers

  • An annual walk against domestic violence.

  • And many other projects throughout the Bangor area.

Our membership is currently 34 members working together to promote Zonta's mission in our community.  Club meetings are held the second Monday of every month (except July, and August)  at the Seadog Restaurant on the waterfront in Bangor, Maine.
